Module 0 - Lesson 6 - PolicyWizard Side Hustles

Cybersecurity skills are massively in demand. If you have these skills, there are lots of people and companies out there who will be willing to pay you for those skills. They may not want to take on a full-time employee, or they might only have one job that needs doing.

You can advertise yourself locally and on the Internet. As someone who has these skills and is offering services. This is a great option, especially if you use your network to find clients. Another option is to sign up for an account with a platform designed to put people and contractors together. There are lots of them.

Two good ones are Fiver and Upwork. You can advertise there and you can also bid for contracts posted by people who need specific work done. Both are great options. The websites take a cut of the fee, but this is a great way to prove yourself and you can use the work that you do as experience in future job applications.

Some skills that you can offer on a contract basis might include:

  • Policy writing.

  • Vulnerability testing.

  • Phishing remediation.

  • Software sorry, firewall configuration

  • and VPN configuration.

  • You could set up logging and network monitoring.

  • You could do some security awareness training.

  • Carry out penetration testing.

  • OSINT or people research.

  • Setting up cloud services

  • and there's always the option of doing bug bounties through Hacker one and Bugcrowd.

Use this experience, sorry, use this as experience, or as a full-time job. The possibilities are endless with enough drive and quality work.
